Dr. Shariat is an Associate Professor at the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. Research in her lab is centered on understanding Salmonella dynamics in food animal production, with a focus on poultry, as well as in the environment to improve food safety. She has developed transformative methods for detecting and evaluating complex Salmonella populations and research in her lab is funded by USDA, US-Poultry and Egg, plus other stakeholder organizations and industry.
